Ethiopian Sidamo: Natural processed

Ethiopian Sidamo: Natural processed

from $18.00

This is a Naturally processed bean from Ethiopia. It is Organically grown. This bean comes from the Sidamo region of Ethiopia and is produced by a man named Kifle Wako who has a plot of land that is roughly 50 acres.  Ethiopia is the birthplace of Arabica coffee and the region of Sidamo is a very large reason for that.

Naturally processed coffee:  usually involves drying coffee cherries on either patios or raised beds in the sun. To prevent the cherries from spoiling, they are raked and turned throughout the day and then covered at night or during rain storms. This process, which can take 3-6 weeks normally, is the more-traditional method of processing coffee. After the cherries have been dried to the optimum level, they are sent to mills to separate the seeds from the rest of the dried fruit, otherwise known as being “hulled.”

-In simpler terms… Naturally processed coffee means that they let the coffee cherries breakdown onto their “bean” or “seed”.  By doing this, it allows for the bean to absorb a lot of the fruity flavors of the cherry when it is roasted.  This is an insanely specialty coffee because the natural process is not done as often any more!
